Copy_of_Royal_Glam_Leaflet.pngRecent plans have been announced that will downgrade or close our local accident and emergency. This will result in local residents having to travel over an hour to reach their nearest A&E. Lives will be at risk unless we stop this dangerous proposal.

The Labour Welsh Government are responsible for the Welsh NHS, but the First Minister Mark Drakeford has said he is unwilling to step in and save the A&E

Reducing capacity in an already stretched service is insanity. We need more emergency care options not less. Bring A&E to ysbyty cwm rhondda as well. Like we used to have it. Spreading the weight is always going to be better than piling it up high in one area.

The A&E at RGH is an absolutely critical service in the area. It should be left unchanged and running as normal in the future no matter what. It is by far the most despicable idea to downgrade or close such an essential service. In my opinion it is utter madness to even think of such a dreadful action, ……

With so many new builds going on in the area, the need for A&E is bound to increase exponentionally. Now is NOT the time to slash this essential service.

People will be in a desperate plight travelling to Merthyr in an emergency. Last time I had to take somebody who had passed out to Bridgend we had to wait in the corridors a long time .

Closing or downgrading the A&E department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital will load an intolerable additional burden onto the A&E departments at both Cardiff University Hospital and Bridgend hospital as well as considerably extending journey times for A&E patients/ambulances within the Royal Glamorgan’s cachment area. It is a hugely short-sighted, poorly judged policy.

We need this department in every respect. The Heath and Bridgend A and E departments are already over subscribed. Closing Royal Glam A and E will undoubtedly cost lives. We can’t let this happen.

I agree more medical staff should be recruited. It shouldn’t be closed because staffing levels are unsafe.
